I'm glad that you like the name Hannalore, Mel. I found out that it is actually the blending of two names, Hannah and Eleanor. So I decided to call the lost mother of Hannalore Eleanor. Part of the journey that Hannalore and Juno begin half way through Chapter One is a quest to find out why Hannalore was abandoned. And how she is related, if at all, to Juno.

I really liked how you began the chapter, and the book. It painted a picture for me, and as I read on, I felt like I was there watching Hannalore and Juno. And I really like the name Hannalore :D.
Love,
Mel

You have hit on something really important and I am glad that this came across in the first few pages. This is a sign that the book is working! So far anyway... the relationship between Hannalore and Juno is central to the book. Juno is autistic but I could not use this word as it was not current in 1920. There were these children of course but they were classed as idiots.
Thank you for your insightful comment Monika.

What a great beginning. I'm captivated already. Hannalore's uncertain world that is peppered with danger - her innocence and courage in the face of this new situation. I have to tell myself that she will be ok, because she listens to the child. I think she will handle this problem quite differently to how anyone else would in her place, but right now I'm scared for her.
The name sticks easily - it's a good name.
I'm glad it's Friday tomorrow ... only one sleep to the next morsel.
